Have you always wanted to perform or to train to be a better dancer but don’t know where to start?  

In August, JJSalsaRengue will start a Salsa Performance class for those aspiring to become better dancers and to perform.  The pre-requisite is at least a salsa intermediate 2 level or an equivalent from a salsa school.  The course will be spread over 12 weeks totalling 42 hours where strengthening and foundation techniques will be taught and practised.  You will also learn, rehearse and perform a choreography.   

Expect to work hard on your Footwork & Styling, Spins & Turns, and Partnerwork;  And be prepared to put in much more than the 42 hours, while you learn and rehearse to perform at the Singapore International Salsa Festival 2010 and/or at a local event.

Note:  Pre-registration is required.  As you will be working in a team, a certain amount of commitment is needed for the course. There will be no make-up days or refunds for missed sessions.

Body Movement is clearly one of Neeraj’s most popular workshop across the globe!  Includes body isolation, style, attitude and a lot of fun!

Neeraj Maskara is a popular name seen on the line up of several salsa congresses around the world.   Especially across Europe, he has been one of the most sought after teacher and performer during the last 5 years. His dance background has been mainly Jazz Ballet and Salsa with influences from several other dance forms.  His shows are charaterized by excellent musical interpretation, creative moves, great energy and expression.  His workshops are always well structured, personalized, entertaining and motivating for salsa dancers at all levels.  Neeraj is well known for being a great social dancer who always manages to leave a lasting impression on you with his friendly and fun-loving personality.  He is currently residing in Singapore for a year due to his regular mainstream job in the financial sector.  We are fortunate to be able to leverage his presence here to learn from his experience and expertise.

WEST COAST SWING  (Level 1) – by Albert Chung

West Coast Swing (WCS), the state dance of California, originated and developed since the 1930’s into the modern, stylie and smooth swing we know today. The dance is socially based and can be performed to music of all types from contemporary, hip-hop, funk and R&B all the way across to jazz, motown, swing and blues! It is versatile, smooth, stylie and sexy and is great fun to both watch and perform.   The dance is characterised by a distinctive elastic look that results from its basic extension-compression technique of partner connection and allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together.

About Albert Chung – Born in the USA, Albert has over 15 years of experience in club-style partner dances which includes West Coast Swing (WCS), Hustle, Night Club 2-Step, Country 2-Step, Street Cha Cha, Bachata, Salsa and Argentine Tango.  He is also the first instructor to introduce WCS, Hustle, Night Club 2-Step and Country 2-Step in Singapore and Malaysia with emphasis on improvisation and social dancing.
